The Christine Hamori Cosmetic Surgery + Skin Spa is a free standing new building that includes a surgical suite, consultation rooms, offices and spa treatment areas.

The building is located on Boston’s South Shore bordering a residential neighborhood. Recognizable as a New England barn profile, the detailing and the arrangement of the simple palette of materials allows the building to stand as unquestionably contemporary. The entry of the building is defined by a shiplap clad frame that both breaks down the building mass and provides a private garden entry and privacy screen from the street. The gabled roof integrates the extensive mechanical systems required for the surgical suite without compromising the visual appearance of the building. Floor to ceiling glass and a skylight located over the main entry stair allows natural light to illuminate deep into the interior spaces as well as providing views out to the extending landscape.

The interior design is a mixture of soft warm colors, materials and furniture that fosters calm and restfulness. The main entry stair celebrates movement between floors integrating natural and artificial lighting that accentuate the height of the volume. Depending on the time of day and season, the stair is blanketed with natural light from the skylight above. As the sun tracks across the sky, the surfaces of the stair are washed with the changing sunlight.
